Program Manager, Nudge Art (Contract)

About genEquality

Founded in 2017, genEquality is a 501(c)3 social enterprise on a mission to creatively activate social change. Through our partnerships and work with schools, companies, and communities, we address broader issues of equality, inclusion, and safety in our communities and culture.

Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced New York City-based Program Manager for our Nudge Art programs, primarily in New York City. Through our Nudge Art programming, we engage, educate, and empower leaders and changemakers who want to make a difference. You can learn more about some past Nudge Art programs here: Wagner Houses, Stapleton Houses, Kurt Hahn Expeditionary High School, Townsend Harris High School.

Each Nudge Art program is unique because no two classrooms or communities are exactly alike, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution for equality and inclusion. However, all Nudge Art programs do share a common framework and common traits. Every Nudge Art program begins with educational workshops and culminates with the creation of a unique work of art in a public area. All Nudge Art murals share three traits:

  1.   Led by a local artist

  2.   Co-created by community

  3.   Stand for equality, inclusion, and belonging.

As Program Manager, you will be responsible for program operations and will execute Nudge Art program logistics. This includes:

  • Scheduling sessions, workshops, and meetings to maintain the program calendar/timeline;

  • Communicating with program partners and participants;

  • Managing program operations, e.g., procuring the necessary supplies for mural painting;

  • Building good working relationships and interfacing with program partners to ensure successful program execution;

  • Creating good operational systems in order to ensure smooth operational execution.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organized operational leader and skilled relationship manager who is able to learn, develop, and execute efficient operations strategies and tactics. The Program Manager will work directly with genEquality’s Executive Director, Program Directors, and Teaching Artists, as well as leaders and stakeholders from program partner organizations including the NYC Mayor’s Office, the Partnership for New York City, NYC Housing Authority, and others. The Program Manager will also interface directly with participants as part of the program delivery team (alongside the Teaching Artist(s) and other genEquality team members, as needed).

The genEquality team is geographically dispersed and works in a hybrid model. For place-based program execution (e.g. mural setup, painting days, etc), team members must be on-site. However, for other program management work, you may work from home.

This is a ~2-month contract program manager opportunity with potential for extension into a full-time opportunity.

  • Takes initiative to ensure that program operations all flow smoothly
