About Us

Founded in 2017, genEquality is a 501c3 social enterprise that is

on a mission to creatively activate
gender-equal and inclusive beliefs and behaviors.

We are a small but mighty team of designers, artists, strategists, applied behavioral scientists, educators, organizers, policy advocates, and more. While our team brings a wide range of skills to our interdisciplinary work, we all

envision a world in which everyone lives with equality,
regardless of their gender.

Note from our Founder & Executive Director:

Dear friends,

This year marks six years since we began working to activate people towards gender-equal and inclusive beliefs and behaviors. Since 2017, we’ve worked with leaders in a wide range of classrooms, communities, and companies across North America and around the world - and have created some really meaningful and impactful art, technology, and programs along the way. In 2022 alone, we 10x'd the number of people we engaged and 8x'd our views and visitors. While we're proud of our growth and excited about our international expansion, our ultimate focus remains on our on-the-ground impact.

We often talk about how the root and last mile of realizing gender equality lie in beliefs and behaviors. Policies and practices are incredibly important, but if beliefs and behaviors don't significantly shift along with policies and practices, our progress is limited. The United Nations Development Program's 2020 Gender Social Norms Index shows us that the fight for progress in beliefs and behaviors - politically, economically, educationally, and physically - is something that people are fighting for everywhere. On the whole, we are seeing progress - but backlash and setbacks are real, too. Recent events and news from all around the world continually reinforce the fact that our collective efforts for gender equality are continually needed.

On a more personal note, I feel so lucky to work alongside an incredible team with great advisors, and to do work that we all care about so deeply. I am so grateful to the program partners, participants, team members, artists, advisors, supporters, volunteers, mentors, friends, and community members who have not only made the organization's work and impact possible, but also truly a pleasure along the way.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Onwards!
