Nudge Art

Creatively activating gender-equal and inclusive beliefs and behaviors

genEquality works with leaders in classrooms and communities to activate equality and inclusion. Through our Nudge Art programming, we engage, educate, and empower leaders and changemakers who want to make a difference.

Each Nudge Art program is unique because no two classrooms or communities are exactly alike, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution for equality and inclusion.

What Defines Nudge Art

Every Nudge Art program begins with educational workshops and culminates with the creation of a unique work of art in a public area. All Nudge Art murals share three traits:

1) Led by a local artist
2) Co-created by community
3) Stand for equality, inclusion, and belonging.

Co-Creating Art, Leading Change

Nudge Art provides participants with opportunities to advance equality and inclusion in their communities through creative learning, community engagement, and mural creation. Research shows that engaging and learning through creative activity yields numerous benefits. Nudge Art programs center on practical learning and leadership development through workshops, speaker sessions, street art field trips, and artistic creation.

Nudge Art Curriculum

genEquality’s experienced facilitators, speakers, and teaching artists are committed to arts education, community-led engagement, and leadership development. Program workshops and modules - offered in person and/or virtually - include:

- Community Organizing
- Actions for Equality (10 Research-backed Activations)
- Human-Centered Design Thinking
- Adaptive Leadership
- How Art Drives Change (Street Art Field Study/Field Trips)
- Color Theory
- Painting Technique
- Mural Design + Painting

Nudge Art Impact

By the end of each program, Nudge Art participants are not only well-versed in driving impact and change, but they will have also co-created a public work of art. That co-created, community-driven work of art stays in the community long after the workshops are done and the facilitators are gone, serving as a reminder and reinforcement of the values and beliefs that the community stands for. Nudge Art is a beacon of inclusion and equality that comes directly from the heads, hearts, and hands of the community.
