Nudge Art

Creatively activating gender-equal and inclusive beliefs and behaviors

genEquality works with leaders in classrooms, companies, and communities to activate equality and inclusion. Through our Nudge Art programming, we engage, educate, and empower leaders and changemakers who want to make a difference. Each Nudge Art program is unique because no two classrooms, companies, or communities are exactly alike.

Nudge Art provides participants with opportunities to advance equality and inclusion in their communities through creative learning, community engagement, and mural creation. Research shows that engaging and learning through creative activity yields numerous benefits.

genEquality’s facilitators, speakers, and teaching artists are all deeply experienced and committed to arts education, community-led engagement, and leadership development.

The Nudge Art program curriculum includes:

  • Community Organizing 101

  • Actions for Equality (genEquality’s 10 Research-backed Activations)

  • Human-Centered Design Thinking

  • How Art Drives Change (Street Art Field Study/Field Trips)

  • Color Theory

  • Color Mixing

  • Painting Technique

  • Mural Design Sessions

  • Mural Painting

Nudge Art programs center on practical learning through workshops, speaker sessions, street art field trips, and mural design and creation. Workshops and speaker sessions are currently offered in a hybrid model (some in person, outdoors; others virtual). The street art field trips would be in-person, led by a genEquality teaching artist, and will provide students both learning and inspiration as they prepare to work together on designing a mural to advance equality and inclusion in their own community. Nudge Art programs culminate with the co-design and co-creation of a public mural that advances equality and inclusion in the community.

By the end of each program, Nudge Art participants are not only well-versed in driving impact and change through art and community organizing, but they will have also co-created a public mural that will stand as a beacon of inclusion and equality in their community.
